BOYS’ BRIGADE
The 4th Altrincham Boys’ Brigade Company

The Boys’ Brigade company meets on Friday evenings from 6.30pm till 7.50pm. at the Altrincham United Reformed Church (Woodlands Timperley) premises on Woodlands Parkway.

The Boys’ Brigade has four sections: Anchors (aged 5 to 7), Junior section (aged 8 to 11), Company section (aged 11 to 15) and Senior section (16+). At present there are 7 junior section boys and 2 company section boys in the Company. We hope to recruit some boys into the Anchor section shortly.
One of our boys, Laurence, will soon gain his gold badge for which he has worked so hard. Although Laurence has only been in the Boys’ Brigade for 2 years he has passed the 56 tests needed to gain this award. Laurence also attends Saturday Seekers as a helper and has attended nearly every Church Parade. Laurence will be promoted into the Company section in September.

This year, three of our boys entered the Bible reading competition and did very well. In April the company took part in the Annual Battalion Church Parade at St Anne's Church in Manchester city centre.

We work closely with 7th Altrincham Company at Timperley Methodist Church. Our company boys meet jointly at their church on Fridays from 8pm. In June we will hold our joint weekend camp at St Anne’s near Blackpool. An Officer from 2nd Altrincham Company also helps us on Friday evenings. We hope to develop these associations further, enabling us to cater for boys of all ages.

This year, our Junior Section Officer, Jennifer Maratos, retires after 46 years’ enjoyable service. Jennifer started helping with the Life Boys as it was then called to help with the boys in the 4th Manchester company in Chorlton. She moved to Timperley in 1974 and became an officer in the 4th Altrincham Company.

We warmly welcome any boys aged 5 and over to come along to Boys’ Brigade on a Friday evening. Boys will be able to take part in a wide range of activities, including games, sport, competitions, craft and music. For further details please contact Jennifer or Mike Maratos.
