FELLOWSHIP WEEKEND, SEPT 14-16th, 2007

Our Church fellowship weekend at “Thornleigh”, Grange-over-Sands, was once again an enjoyable and fulfilling time of sharing and laughter. Our leader this year was the Revd Yolande Burns, minister in the North Lancaster Pastorate and her subject was “The Gift of Sabbath”. She led us in sessions, when we thought about the Sabbath in four different ways, as in Celebration, in Play, in Rest and in Liberation. All shared in the ensuing discussions, with seriousness and humour.
On the free Saturday afternoon, we all went out to enjoy the lovely sunshine and the beauty of the Grange area. After dinner in the evening, we all took part in a social hour or so of poems, music, jokes and even tap dancing! (rather difficult on the carpeted floor!)
These sessions seem to bring more hilarity every year. Where do all these jokes come from?
On Sunday morning, we joined in worship at Grange United Reformed Church and then after a final lunch at ‘Thornleigh’ we left for the journey home.
Everyone enjoyed this refreshing weekend away and hope that more of our members will take part in it when we go next year. A big thank you is due to Sheila O’Connor, who did all the arrangements for the weekend and made sure it all went smoothly.
