| 4th HALE GUIDES at TRINITY HALE
The Guides continue to be busy. We currently have about 26 girls with roughly 20 attending on average each Thursday. Several of these girls are from the unit in Hale Barns which has closed temporarily and as yet we do not know whether they will stay with us or whether their unit will be re-opened but for the time being we are enjoying having them with us. Six of our older Guides are preparing for the Baden Powell Award and they have been leading some of our recent meetings – most notably a games evening and a Royal Wedding themed fashion event with recycled wedding dress making and a competition to guess the weight of a Royal Wedding Cake made by Lauren, one of our Guides – this truly was spectacular: three tiers, chocolate, cherry and lemon, beautifully iced and weighing in at a massive 2.5kg. We all enjoyed a sample of each layer! The Guides have continued to work on ‘Go for its’ including games, quizzes, cooking, making origami water bombs and quilling. Future activities include a ‘ready steady cook’ evening, a ‘Ruby’ challenge and a weekend camp in September. In addition to me and Vicky Isaac, we now also have two young leaders and two adult leaders in training plus a volunteer helper. Sadly we will lose six of our older Guides at the end of this term as they will all be over 14 so we will have places for others to join. Hilary
Allen The Guides meet in the large hall at Trinity Hale every Thursday between 6 and 7.30 pm. Guides caters for girls aged 10 – 14 and is open to all girls, irrespective of race, religion, culture or disability, provided they are able to understand and commit to the Guide Promise. Many Guides have previously been in the Brownies but this is not necessary.
