Badminton Club

Each week there are two opportunities to play badminton at our Hale premises. So for all those who like to have a little exercise in a friendly atmosphere there will be a place for you.

Starting on Thursday 14th September, 2006 at 7.45 p.m. is the Senior Club where players with some experience come to have games varying in standard from gentle to enthusiastic according to who is on court at the time. It is also a time to chat about current matters over a cup of tea with other members, and so provides a get-together adding to the community scene. Fortunately there is involvement from some who do not attend church so we are not totally inward looking.

Then, on Saturdays at 10.00 a.m. is the Beginners Club who learn and play badminton with club equipment and are led by Club members. This for most is another social and happy occasion, when, it is found that after this little exercise one can go home feeling much more at peace with the world. Whether this is as a result of the badminton or the social gathering I cannot say, but it seems to work.

If you would like to join in one of the weekly events, please let me or Mrs Elizabeth Downie know beforehand, or just turn up at the appropriate time for the game of your life.

BADMINTON CLUB REPORT for 2004-2005

This has been a good year for the club as new members have joined and the numbers and standard on Thursday evenings has been encouraging. Graham Ash has been running popular Beginners Badminton coaching sessions on Saturday mornings and several of the members of that group have progressed to Thursday evenings.

With a higher attendance, and subscriptions from the Saturday group, we have been able to donate £220 to the Church during the year which is the highest ever. Subscriptions are still £1.50 per evening so it is very good value for money and excellent exercise. We are a friendly lot and have good fun so do come and join us.

Badminton starts at 7:30 p.m. and finishes when everyone is tired – around 10 p.m.! The season starts in September and finishes at the end of May but some keen members will probably play on through the summer.

We are looking forward to forming a new united club with Trinity Badminton Club members when the two churches come together in this building. Watch this space!
